Certification is the complete process that produces an official NOM Conformity Certificate — the document you need to sell the product in Mexico. A Conformity Assessment is a technical evaluation that determines whether your product is subject to a specific NOM or not. The Assessment comes first: if the result shows the NOM doesn't apply, you don't need to certify. If it does apply, you proceed to certification with clarity.
Timeline depends on the service and the specific NOM. It varies with the certification body, product complexity, and lab results. We manage each stage to cut out dead time, and for urgent cases we run fast-track routes with the certification bodies.
In most cases, yes. Any equipment using radio spectrum — WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, Zigbee, LoRa — requires CRT registration in addition to NOM certification. Both processes can run in parallel to reduce total time to market. NOMAD coordinates both simultaneously.
An expired certificate voids the legal authorization for your product. After that, shipments can be held at customs even if the product is identical to one that cleared before without issue. Renewal has to happen before expiration. With NOMAD, you get alerts in time and the process starts without you having to remember it.
